Description
Itapuã, which means round stone in the Tupi language, gives the name to one of the favorite beaches of the residents of Salvador. Eternized in the verses of Vinícius de Moraes, the place has a pedestrian and coconut tree-lined promenade along the whole shore. It is also on the boardwalk that is the famous statue of the Slave of Itapuã, presence guaranteed in the photos of the holidays. The calm sea of medium waves is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean with its charming green water. At certain points in the water there are large stones that form natural pools. Depending on where the beach where you stay you can practice surfing and other water sports. Tourists can visit the lighthouse, a true postcard of the city, and in their mediations enjoy and photograph the various fishing boats. The sands of Itapuã Beach have tents and kiosks at various points on the waterfront that rent umbrella and chairs. The beach is very crowded with sunbathers and tourists, so if you are looking for quiet Itapuã is not the place to go.
