Ecological Park of Cortad

The Cortado Ecological Park  or Parque do Lago do Cortado  is a park and a Brazilian environmental protection area located in the western Federal District , in the administrative region of Taguatinga . Its main purpose is to protect the springs of the Cortado stream . 

It is part of the Area of ​​Relevant Ecological Interest Parque Juscelino Kubitscheck . It is bordered to the north by the IQs, to the east by the SESI and the QNF, to the west by the QNJ (blocks 33,35,37,39 and 47) and QNL (blocks 12 and 10) and to the south by the link QNF / QNL. 

There are several grills and playground in the area with free entry. The stream is accompanied by gallery forest with several trails. SEMARH maintains an office on site and military forest policing is done 24 hours a day. 

History

The area of ​​the Park has undergone several transformations throughout the years: 

• 1989 - Creation of ARIE of the Taguatinga Streams / Cut by Decree No. 11,467 of March 6 of this year. The Cortado Ecological Park did not yet exist officially.
• 1993 - Inspection was carried out by the then environmental agency of the Federal District, IEMA, which assessed companies and institutions that bordered on ARIE, associated with the removal of factories of shackles, concrete blocks and bricks that operated on the banks of the Córrego do Cortado .
• 1996 - ARIE Park JK was created by Law No. 1.002, of January 2, 1996. Cortado Ecological Park did not yet exist officially.
• 1997 - Law No. 1,762, of November 5 of this year creates the Cultural Pole of Taguatinga at ARIE Parque JK. The project provided for the implementation of structures aimed at cultural education and environmental education of the population, with music schools, environmental libraries, amphitheatres, arts workshops, among other activities of general culture, but larger projects that involved the consolidation of the Cultural Pole of Taguatinga have never been fulfilled in full.
• 1999-2002 - Invasions occur at the head of Córrego do Cortado by shacks and it is verified that the surrounding farms develop activities of environmental impact in the place. Studies on the possibility of implementing the Cortado Ecological Park are intensified. On August 14, 2002, Complementary Law no. 638 establishes the creation of the Parque do Lago do Cortado, destined to the development of recreational, educational, sports, cultural and artistic. 
• 2005 - Defined and made official the polygonal by Decree nº 26.436, of December 9, 2005.
• 2006 - Structuring of the Park.
• 2012 - The park becomes again run down. Part of the enclosure was uprooted, making it impossible to control the entrance and exit of people; the park is frequented by drug dealers, drug users, homeless people and carcassers who use it as a corral. However, interest returned to the Park, particularly by real estate companies whose investments in the park's surroundings were interested in the revitalization of the site as a way of valuing their enterprises. This year, GDF announces the investment in revitalization works in the Cortado Ecological Park by the "Brasília Cidade Parque" program through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the objective of environmental compensation.
• 2013 - Start of the revitalization works of the park.
