Economic activities
The artisanal fishing is the main activity of Kayar. Each evening hundreds of canoes discharge on the beach tons of fishes that will nourish the population of the peninsula of Cape Verde. However, the fishermen must go to bring back increasingly small catches more and more further.
The local Council of the artisanal fishing (CLPA) was installed in Kayar by the Director of Oceanography and maritime fishing.
The many attempts to clandestine immigration from Kayar recently drew the attention of the media to this fishing village.
Agriculture also is also gaining ground  in the city, potatoes, groundnuts and the marshland.
