The Rio di San Tomà (in Venetian de San Tomà, canal of St. Thomas) is a canal of Venice in the sestiere of San Polo.

Toponymy

The name comes from the Church of San Tomà.

Description

The Rio de San Tomà has a length of about 150 meters. It extends the rio dei Frari in a south-eastern direction towards its mouth in the Grand Canal. It ends at the Grand Canal between the Palazzo Giustinian Persico and the Palazzo Marcello dei Leoni.

  • The Ponte del Traghetto or Centani. The old ferry (Traghetto en venitien) of San Tomà already existed in the fifteenth century. It connects the Calle del Traghetto and Campiello Centani.
